In Partnership with the Chuitna Campaign

The Upstream Journey logo is a tribute to the awe-inspiring journey salmon undertake. Their arduous migration is riddled with a litany of obstacles nature and man have thrown in their path. Salmon’s immense fortitude and perseverance serve as our inspiration to continue our upstream journey to conserve the great outdoors.

Fittingly, 10% of the price of Upstream Journey logo products is donated to support the Chuitna Campaign’s work to defeat the proposed Chuitna Coal Mine. Named one of America’s most endangered rivers, Alaska's unspoiled Chuitna River is one of the world’s last salmon strongholds, but it is being threatened by PacRim Coal’s proposal to mine directly through 13.7 miles of its salmon-rich headwaters.

CHUITNA: MORE THAN SALMON ON THE LINE

There are few places left in the United States as pristine and untouched as Alaska’s Chuitna Watershed. In a world where wild salmon stocks have been depleted by over-exploitation and habitat loss, the Chuitna remains one of the world’s last salmon strongholds and boasts abundant runs of all five species of wild Pacific salmon, which supports vibrant commercial, subsistence, and recreational fishing. But this irreplaceable salmon wilderness and the people that rely on it are now staring down the barrel of destruction due to the proposed Chuitna Mine.
